Seven international students recommended by Jiangnan University (JNU) all received awards in the recent 2023 “Shared Joy in Jiangsu” Foreigner Chinese Speech Competition, co-organized by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Jiangsu Province and Jiangsu Broadcasting Corporation. Notably, Liu Tianle from Egypt won the first prize with the highest overall score, marking JNU’s best performance in the competition thus far. Furthermore, JNU was honored with the Excellent Organization Award for its exceptional organization efforts and remarkable results in the competition.
With the theme of “My Vision of China,” the competition aimed to encourage international students to share their personal stories about China from their observations, experiences, and perceptions in the country. The goal was to foster mutual understanding between China and foreign countries. The School of International Education played an active role in motivating international students to take part in the preliminary rounds and arranged Chinese language teachers to offer meticulous guidance during preparation process.
The “Shared Joy in Jiangsu” Foreigner Chinese Speech Competition is one of the most influential cultural events for foreigners in the province. It serves as an important platform for foreigners to learn Chinese, understand Chinese culture and the local culture of Jiangsu Province. The competition not only fuels the enthusiasm of our international students in learning Chinese but also highlights the effectiveness of our efforts in international student education, teaching, and talent development.
