To enhance fire safety awareness among international students and further improve their abilities for evacuation, self-rescue, and emergency response during fire incidents and other emergencies, the School of International Education, in collaboration with the Fire Department of the Campus Security Office, organized a fire safety lecture and drill on the afternoon of March 13th. The event was attended by international students from the 2023 cohort.
The keynote speaker, Xue Jing, started by emphasizing the importance of fire hazards and fire safety knowledge on campus. He introduced common causes of fires, prevention methods, and provided detailed information on firefighting equipment, facilities, evacuation procedures, and techniques. Following the lecture, international students participated in the practical drill under the guidance of professionals. They gained hands-on experience of extinguishing fire using firefighting equipment and practiced techniques such as approaching a fire source from a distance, and extinguishing fire on the windward and leeward sides. Students took turns using fire extinguishers to put out fires. Through training and practice, students acquired essential knowledge on the proper use of firefighting equipment and learned how to respond to unexpected situations.
This fire drill provided international students with a genuine opportunity to experience and learn about fire safety, effectively enhancing their preparedness in the face of sudden fire incidents and their emergency response capabilities. In the future, the School of International Education remains committed to strengthening fire safety measures, creating a fire-safe environment where everyone prioritizes safety and is capable of emergency response. SIE is dedicated to safeguarding the lives and property of our students and ensuring a safe study environment.
