IV. Who Is Eligible to Apply
1. Non-Chinese citizens in good health
2. Academic & Age Requirements:Applicants need to be holders of a high-school diploma, aged between 18 and 30. A formal letter of authorization from parents is needed from applicants under 18 whose parents are not permanent residents in China.
lAn applicant whose either or both parents are Chinese citizens and lawful permanent residents of a foreign country and who, at birth, is a foreign citizen (with no Chinese nationality), is required to hold a foreign passport or a proof of nationality for at least 4 years upon applying to Jiangnan University(hereafter referred to as JNU, if any). Moreover, the said applicant is required to have resided in a foreign country for 2 years and above(9 months of residence in a foreign country would be calculated as 1 year subject to the entry and exit stamps at the customs)in the past 4 years (as of April 30 of the year of registration).
lAn applicant in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan who, upon emigration, obtains a foreign nationality is obliged to hold a foreign passport or a proof of nationality for at least 4 years upon applying to 18新利体育备用网址 Moreover, the said applicant is obliged to have resided in a foreign country for 2 years and above(9 months of residence in a foreign country would be calculated as 1 year subject to the entry and exit stamps at the customs)in the past 4 years (as of April 30 of the year of registration).
3. Language Requirements:
lAn applicant for a Chinese-taught program is required to hold a valid Level-4 or above Chinese Proficiency Test (hereafter referred to as HSK) certificate. An applicant for a Literature or History program is required to hold an HSK-5 or above certificate. An applicant who graduates from one of the listed Chinese-taught schools is exempted from the above certificates.
lAn applicant for an English-taught program is required to hold a valid English proficiency test certificate, such as IETLS 5.5 or above, TOEFL 75 or above, CEFR B2 or other certificates which can prove his/her English proficiency sufficient to meet the demand of studying and living in China. An applicant who graduates from an English-taught school is exempted from the above certificates.
V. Steps to Be Accepted
Step One:The university screens the applicant’s qualifications.
Step Two:The applicant takes a written or oral test.
Step Three:The university issues a conditional offer.
Step Four:The applicant pays the tuition deposit ofCNY3000 within one month after receiving the conditional offer. Otherwise, the applicant is considered to decline his/her conditional offer.
Step Five:The university issues a full offer. Successful Applicants will receive Electronic Documents Including Admission Notice, Visa Application Form (JW202)

Note B:All the above materials are required to be color scanned and submitted. They are to be verified upon registration.
VII. Preparation for Registration
Successful applicants need Admission Notice and JW202 to apply to the corresponding Chinese Embassy (Consulate) for their student visa (X). They need to register at School of International Education, Jiangnan University on the prescribed date with the documents including Admission Notice, JW202 and Physical Examination Record for Foreigners (Please schedule the examination properly since the result is valid only forSIXmonths and required for application for resident permit in China.)
